What is Get Out Get Active?
Get Out Get Active (GOGA) is an exciting new programme that supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together. Funded by Spirit of 2012, all partners are focused on getting some of the UK’s least active people moving more through fun and inclusive activities. Volunteering Matters role is to support GOGA partners to recruit over 2,000 volunteers throughout the course of the programme. There are lots of opportunities to be involved as a volunteer in GOGA.
"I have learnt a lot through my volunteering experience and met new people and I feel valued for just being myself. I hadn’t worked for around 8 or 9 years before I started volunteering because of suffering with depression and so it feels like my life has changed for the better."
“People I currently support through volunteering who are involved with Get Out Get Active tend to have confidence problems and I like seeing how they progress when they have the right support. I am happy to be part of that process to help someone change their life for the better.”
"Having volunteered with the project it makes me feel very positive, enthusiastic and I have fun. Being involved in Get Out Get Active has increased my confidence, and meeting the people I have, has positively impacted on my life."
